Past Activity

  • "Sound The Alarm" Fire Safety Month
  • Thumbnail of Sound The Alarm Video
  • Home fires claim seven lives every day, but having working smoke alarms can cut the risk of death by half. That’s why the American Red Cross launched the Home Fire Campaign in 2014 to save lives.
  • Sound the Alarm events are a critical part of this campaign. Through these home visits, the Red Cross has installed more than 2.2 million free smoke alarms and prepared more than 2.5 million people for home fires.

  • American Red Cross
  • Every eight minutes, the American Red Cross responds to a disaster — the vast majority of them home fires. While each fire is different, they often leave families on curbs, sometimes without shoes or coats, watching their homes burn. The Red Cross has been helping these families for more than 50 years.
